Demand: An urban regeneration project for an pre-existing old gated community which had 100 residents. According to the regulations the F.A.R of the plot increases 1.5 and has a total of 2.5. The demand was two high rise residential towers including 400 apartments.
The district of Kartal on the far Asian side of İstanbul is valued for its unobstructed view to the Prince's Islands, which are popular recreational destinations for the city. This is the fuel that fires the urban regeneration projects in the area, and we were tapped to design one of them. The proposal involves two asymmetric towers that are connected by a common architectural language. Each tower is divided by an iconic cut , with two varying facades on each side of the cut. One side being a rigid and continuous stone grid connecting the towers to the ground, while the other side being white and linear as it reaches for the sky. The ground level is a collection of lush gardens with social and recreational spaces that residents can interact in.
