A touch to the city silhouette
Project area, 35 m from the east. It is a building island adjacent to the wide boulevard. Around this line, taking into consideration of
other urban functions/motivations, a “square” has been positioned at the center of gravity where the project intersects with the
road. The integration of the project with the city and communication with its environment will be provided through this square.
The square extending along the boulevard narrows expanding to the main functions included in the project each create an entrance.
Rather than a messed settlement, a building group was considered parallel to the street, therefore in a tighter relationship with the
city.
The square extending along the boulevard narrows and expands, creating an entrance to the main functions in the project, while it
is defined by the focus buildings located on its borders. Focal buildings and square definitions considered equally to the main road
ensure communication of the entire area with the city.
Settlement - Main Mass Decisions
The school takes its main entrance from the square level of the masterplan and sits on the sloping land. A building with a
courtyard was created considering the Mediterranean climate. The ceremony area and the recess area are at the same level.
Differences in sun exposure during the day help cool the building with natural ventilation.
Disintegration of the StructureFloor gardens that break up the building create a microclimatic effect. After the main entrance and administrative block, the
school is divided into two branches. The 4+4 system is placed in these two arms. Classrooms face both the inner courtyard and
the outside. The dining hall and library block are positioned according to the assumed view due to the slope. There is an indoor
sports hall under the ceremony area.
Structure Shell
The building shell is enveloped with wooden slats. Wooden solar shading lamellas of different sizes ensure that the structure
remains cool in this climate where solar control is important.
