Innovative high rise
Izmir is Turkey's third largest city, and is relatively late to the construction boom that İstanbul and Ankara have experienced over the past two decades. In order to catch up, the city has designated the Bayraklı District as a prime location for new development and wants to implement a strategy of high-rise projects. This causes a headache for architects as
super-tall buildings will tend to block each other from the prevailing view of the city - the gulf of İzmir. A solution is found by placing super thin apartment towers in opposing corners of the site. One of the towers is rotated and maximizes its view, while the other faces the void of a park. The apartment towers sits upon a base of hanging gardens which houses a 5-storey parking lot with an entrance floor full with retail.
